Criteria for Inclusion in Global Journal Indexing (GJI)
To ensure the quality and credibility of indexed journals, Global Journal Indexing (GJI) has established the following comprehensive criteria. These guidelines uphold the integrity of the research and foster trust among researchers, academicians, and institutions worldwide.
1. General Requirements
- Scope and Relevance: The journal must have a well-defined focus and scope, addressing significant topics within its field.
- Originality and Quality: Articles must demonstrate originality, rigor, and contribute meaningfully to the discipline.
2. Editorial Standards
- Editorial Board: The journal should have a qualified and diverse editorial board with recognized experts in the subject area.
- Peer Review Process: A transparent and rigorous peer-review process must be in place to ensure the quality and integrity of published content.
- Ethical Guidelines: Compliance with ethical publishing standards, such as COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) principles, is mandatory.
3. Publication Practices
- Frequency: The journal should publish regularly, adhering to its stated publication schedule.
- Accessibility: Published articles must be accessible either through open access or subscription-based models.
- Digital Presence: The journal must have a professional website providing detailed information on policies, guidelines, and access to articles.
4. Technical Standards
- ISSN Registration: The journal must possess a valid ISSN (International Standard Serial Number).
- DOI Assignment: Articles should include Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) to ensure persistent and reliable citations.
- Archiving: Mechanisms for digital preservation (e.g., LOCKSS, CLOCKSS, or institutional repositories) must be in place.
5. Research Impact
- Indexing in Other Databases: Prior inclusion in other reputable indexing services (e.g., Scopus, Web of Science) may strengthen the application.
- Citation Metrics: Demonstrable impact within the research community through citations or other measurable indicators.
6. Language and Accessibility
- Language: The journal can be in any language, but abstracts in English are mandatory to enhance discoverability.
- User-Friendly Format: Articles should be available in universally accessible formats (e.g., PDF, HTML).
7. Transparency and Accountability
- Publication Fees: Clear and transparent information about any article processing charges (APCs) or other fees.
- Conflict of Interest: Policies must be in place to manage conflicts of interest for authors, reviewers, and editors.
- Complaint Mechanism: A system to address complaints or ethical concerns from authors, reviewers, or readers.
Application Process
Journals seeking inclusion must submit an application detailing their adherence to these criteria. The GJI review committee will evaluate the application and provide a decision based on the established standards.
